Housing & Enclosures

Design and testing
All EBS GRP / timber composite, tanks and covers are designed and manufactured to the same exacting standards of strength, fire retardancy and safety. Every product is fully compliant with industry type tests standards, both national and international as appropriate to their application.

If required, EBS housing and roofs can be specified with explosion relief, as demonstrated below.

Location: British Gas Faulds test site
Tester: British Gas Midlands, Research Station
Results: The housing remained unscathed after separate explosions. As the roof lifted on each occasion this limited maximum pressure to less than 35mbar, hence fully complying with BGC/PS/E27. Each time the roof returned to its normal position.

Colours and finishes
The EBS simulated brick and stone buildings can be produced to fit sympathetically into any location or environment and are therefore ideally suited to locations where stringent local planning regulations prevail. A choice of flat or pitched roofs are also available.

Pitched roofs can also be specified with simulated slate effect finishes. The provision of a sample of brick, stone or roof tile – or accurate photographic record enables EBS to create a close match where required.

In addition to the aesthetically conscious simulated finished, EBS also offer a durable semi-gloss textured finish to BS4800 or RAL colour references.

EBS simulated brick and stone finishes are not only designed for aesthetical purposes but also save the client considerable time and cost over traditional build.

Technical specifications
All housings are permanent yet re-locatable. Dependent upon size the buildings are provided in either one piece (monolithic) or sectional configurations.

Walls: semi-gloss textured housing
A core of V313 / 18mm WBP exterior grade ply is screwed into a treated quality hardwood base, soffit and doorframe. The unit is then heavily reinforced inside and out with glass fibre mat and polyester fire retardent resin, thus providing a very high degree of strength, rigidity and weather sealing. The outside is finished with a pigmented gel-coat application. This offers the exterior a lightly textured and durable shell finish to a colour of the customer’s choice.

Walls: simulated brick / stone housings
Manufactured in the same manner as per the semi-gloss textured enclosures barring the external gel-coat application. This is replaced by a further layer of EBS’s brick effect finish. This also acts as an additional strengthener and sealer.

Flame retardancy
Wall construction when tested to BS476 Part 8 exceeds a half-hour fire rating (retention of stability, integrity and insulation). Fire retardancy (resin) is to BS476 Parts 3.5.6 and 7 surface spread of flame class l.

Roofs and covers
Flame retadant, heavy duty GRP roofs and covers with built-in strengthening and insulation are provided as standard.

Insulation
Standard construction 18mm core can give a ‘U’ value of 2.0W/m2 deg C. However, this can be improved on further by using a double skin construction to ‘U’ values of 0.3W/m2 deg C.

Environmental protection
Degrees of protection up to IP65 can be achieved in accordance with BS-EN60529.
